The Movie is in your Hands - Finale

Sufferrosa, poster, interactive movie

3 years ago I wrote a post about Polish NON-COMMERCIAL artistic project called Sufferosa by Dawid Marcinkowski and yesterday I was contacted by him and he got great news - the project is finished.  So get ready for amazing experience. Sufferrosa is a non-linear, interactive web-based movie, an experimental storytelling project combining cinema and the web. Film actors includes famous legends of the Polish film industry: Beata Tyszkiewicz, Ewa Szykulska and Ryszard Ronczewski and great soundtrack with the names as Sonic Youth, Glass Candy, Tarwater, Exploding Star Orchestra and many more.

Sufferrosa is a satire of cult of beauty and youth in the present-day world and frustrated woopies (Well-Off Older People) who spend their life savings on plastic surgery.

Sufferrosa is D. Marcinkowski's homage to Jean Luc Godard’s movie 'Alphaville' (1965), W.J.Has's cult-movie 'Manuscript found in Saragossa' (1965), American film noir and the French writer Vernon Sullivan.

I will not tell you more, just tune into Sufferosa universe and take on this interactive and amazing ride. Remember what happens in the movie depends entirely on the choices you make.

Play

Society's obsession with video and online gaming has advanced to the point that virtual environments are indistinguishable from physical ones.

“Play” is a conceptual movie by David Kaplan and Eric Zimmerman which imagines a future where the lines between games and reality have blurred. The film was shot in New York City in less than a week.

Good and interesting perspective how gaming and real life merge. The society of multiple choices. 'You decide' is just an illusion and you are left alone not knowing what to do with all those points you collected unless you move to the next level...play keep on going.

Make Something From Nothing

Beautiful Losers (film)Image via WikipediaWe are all born creative and play with crayons, that we forget to take with us into the adulthood. Some never let the crayons go. Those people are the characters of this fascinating documentary: Beautiful Losers.

"BEAUTIFUL LOSERS celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.
In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.
Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth. "

You can also visit Nike site with art-based workshops created for the film release. From Just Do It to Make Something From Nothing.

I hope it will inspire you during the weekend.
